We decided to hit Wrightsville Beach after school to help with a beach sweep. I figured it would be an excellent way to continue what the boys were learning in school and actually show my kids that I can do more than just laundry, I can pick up random yucky pieces of trash off the beach as well, all the while showing how green I could get. (And by green, I mean earth friendly green, not "I'm-going-to-throw-up-because-I-am-touching-a-used-stinky-sneaker-that-was-once-attached-to-a-human-foot" green.)
The news team was there covering a contest that involved trash pickup and somehow both my kids ended up getting interviewed even though we did not participate in the contest. It may have something to do with the sweet newscaster asking the kids if anyone wanted to talk and my shy, reserved, low talking oldest son pushing all the other kids out of the way for some screen time....
The link below is to the tv station website. What got edited you ask? The innocent newscaster, looking for an Earth Day soundbite, asked Lane "What is your favorite day of the year?!!" and he looks directly into the camera and says without hesitation "My birthday!"
